Reverse Engineering a Visual System
With this project we were prompted to chose adesign style or movement that we resonated with. I chose Swiss Design because I was drawn to the simplicity and beautiful clean lines. We then Created a compostition based on our understanding of the movement- the first image in the gallery. We then had to create 5 Constraints based on our single composition. Mine were as follows:
1) Must use geometric shapes.
2) Use of Primary and secondary colors- no pure white or black.
3) Compositions must feel organized/structured (grid easily seen) and calming.
4) The composition must be created using a system that relies on consistent interva changes (of color and/or size).
5) Composition must imply movement.
After creating these constraints we were challeneged to design 20 more compositions using our constraints- In this project we learned how to reverse engineer a visual system and create constraints to maintain a consistent visual language.
