“The Page” Publication Design
This publication design project showcases my understanding of typography and design while working within challenging constraints. I was tasked with designing a publication of Georges Perec's seminal work, "The Page," and I focused on creating a design system that would enable me to work efficiently and consistently throughout the project.
My approach to the design was centered around the idea of macro and micro typography. I paid careful attention to details such as line spacing, kerning, and font choice to ensure that the text was legible and flowed naturally. I also created a series of typographic styles and hierarchies that allowed me to establish a clear visual hierarchy within the text.
Despite the various constraints I had to work within, such as font choice and page count, I leveraged these limitations to push my creativity and challenge myself to think outside the box. I believe that this project allowed me to hone my problem-solving skills and develop a design philosophy that focuses on functionality and aesthetics.
In the end, I produced two saddle-stitched bound books. I believe this project demonstrates my ability to create visually unexpected and cohesive designs that meet the client's needs and constraints while also pushing my own creative boundaries.
